From the blog...
Hi everyone! How is your week going so far? The sun is finally out again, that makes me happy! 🙂
I just got back last night from an amazing trip to Montreal. I had a corporate gig on Friday night with Les Vikings, then a fashion show in Quebec city on Monday night, and finally the Vikings benefit concert on Tuesday. Everything went great, and I had such a blast. Here is an overview of my journey!
So Les Vikings were hired to play at an Uniprix party on Friday night, which was held at the beautiful Hilton Bonaventure in Montreal. The guests were dressed to the nines, and the setting was absolutely beautiful. The guest performers that were there with us were Jonas and Marjo! What a great show, lots of fun. People hit the dancefloor from the very first song and didn’t leave until the last note! It was a great night.
On Saturday I went to visit my friends at Diesel on rue de La Montagne, to find an outfit for the Vikings benefit show. I spent a couple hours at the store – time can go by insanely fast when trying on fantastic clothes! I found some really gorgeous things and I left as happy as a little girl on Christmas morning 🙂 Thanks to Vic and Stephanie!
Monday morning, I hopped on a train from Montreal to Quebec city and headed to the Children’s Wish Foundation fashion show. It is held every year, and it features Quebec personalities walking the runway wearing beautiful collections by Quebecois designers. All the profits of the soirée go to the Children’s Wish Foundation. What a beautiful cause.
As soon as I arrived at the venue, it was time for my fitting! I absolutely loved everything I tried on. Summer dresses, stunning jewelry, shoes to die for lol… I was once again, a very happy girl playing dress-up!
The other people parading were all Quebecois actors and actresses, some of whom I’m a big fan, so it was very nice to be able to meet them. Two of them are from Gatineau, like me 🙂
We walked the runway five times each, wearing five different outfits, and one out those five times we got to parade with one of the children that were present 🙂 I was paired with Kelly Ann, a four year-old adorable little firecracker. She had so much energy, and she was a joy to be around.
The evening went on to be a huge success, everyone had a wonderful time. After the event was over, we did some interviews and photo opps. Once all that was done, it was time to get changed and head back to the hotel for a good night sleep.
TVA covered the event:
Tuesday was another big day! A day we’d been preparing for at least two months: The Vikings benefit Britannia Rock show. My train to Montreal was at 7:45 so I was awake at 6am. As soon as I arrived in Montreal, I headed straight to Théâtre Plaza for a long but fun day of soundchecks.
The stage was looking amazing!!!
The show was a ginourmous success. The venue was packed. We raised 8000$ for the “Défi Respire”, a marathon taking place in October 2013 set to raise funds for lung cancer research. This initiative comes from Normand Blais, the oncologist who treated Richard Petit (founder of Les Vikings) when he himself was a patient. He had lymphoma and was given a 6% chance of survival. He is now healthy as a horse 🙂
The line-up was incredible: Paul Houde, Marie-Denise Pelletier, Bruno Pelletier, Andrée-Anne Leclerc, Jean-Marc Couture, Jérôme Couture, Jason Roy-Léveillé, Jason Guérette, Bilal Butt, Jonathan Roy, Annie Major-Matte, Alexandre Désilets, Marc Déry, Martin Deschamps… and of course the official Vikings: myself, Carolanne D’Astous and Martin Giroux. The songlist ranged from Queen, David Bowie and Pink Floyd to Coldplay, Eurythmics and The Who.
Wonderful wonderful night. I felt so incredibly blessed to be a part of such an amazing cause, while doing what I love most: performing. I could not feel more lucky.
I ran into a fan of mine outside the venue that I had met a few times, and she gave me this extraordinary present!!! Thank you Roxanne, wow!!! I’m so spoiled.
On Wednesday it was time to head back to TO. Back to songwriting and prepping for the release of my new EP!!
Have yourselves an amazing weekend, enjoy this comforting, uplifting sunshine and delicious breeze, and make the most of it.
Until next week!
