Happy Friday!

Hi everyone! Hope this week was a great one. Aside from this horrible weather we’ve been having, mine was pretty good. Though yesterday as I was walking my beautiful bull terrier Liza, I slipped on a thin patch of ice and almost fell!! T’was a tiny bit scary lol. Seriously, freezing rain, three days in a row??? Argh. But all good, spring is around the corner and so is my new music!! 🙂 The mixes are sounding great, and I’m soo excited and anxious for you to hear them!!!

I posted a video of “Try” earlier this week, and within two days it got close to 800 views! Help me get it to at least a few thousands by checking it out and sharing with your friends 🙂 I also did an acoustic rendition of “Payphone”, which is now at 2975 views!

Sooo, my good friend Dane Hartsell, who plays and sings with me in the “Try” video, was my very first official guitar player in my band post-Idol. He also has some solo stuff of his own, so look him up on the web! We’ve been friends for 6 years but since I’ve moved back to Toronto we hadn’t had a chance to catch up yet. We finally decided to set a date to have a jam session! So we recorded our version of “Try” for you guys, and we also got started on a pretty awesome song. I think the title is gonna be “All These Broken Dreams” or “Broken Dreams”. I had recorded a melody idea into my phone a pretty long time ago and I hadn’t done anything with it yet, so I sang it for Dane and he knew exactly what chord progression I was hearing in my head! We wrote a verse, a pre-chorus and a chorus within an hour and it came to us really easily. That’s always such a good feeling as you’re writing a song, when there’s a chemistry and a dynamic between you and your writing partner(s).

The song is basically about reminiscing, looking back at your youth, and missing the good old days of innocence. You know when you’re a kid and you’re sitting around a campfire playing songs with your friends all night. It’s very nice, I love what we have so far. We’re planning to finish it up in the next couple of weeks for sure.

You guys should definitely look him up, he’s an amazing and talented singer and songwriter.

Happy weekend to all of  you, and in case you haven’t seen it yet, I suggest you check out with my version of “Try”!!!! Please share!!!!

Much love
